The Dream Is Still Alive

Sung to: “The Dream is Still Alive” by Wilson Phillips

A Parody by M. James

Not so long ago on the TV screen
Quiz shows, sitcoms, westerns were all we’d see
But then imaginations beckoned, S-F came and it carried us away
And we still watch today – baby
The dream is still alive; look there in the skies our starships are flying
The dream is still alive, it should be no surprise the stories are thriving
Ratings can’t make it die – no we knew it would survive
The dream is still alive.

Not so long ago on the movie screen
Bug-eyed monsters came to the Cold War scene
And if the special effects were crude,
At least technology and ideas were reviewed
Our future would be pursued, and we say

The dream is still alive, after all this time, the pages keep turning
The dream is still alive, for all the times we tried,
And we’ll never stop learning
New fans won’t let it die – no they will make sure it survives
The dream is, the dream is still alive.

The dream is still alive, after all this time, our shows are returning
The dream is still alive, for all the times we tried,
And we’ll never stop yearning
Ratings won’t make it die – in us it will survive
The dream is still alive
